Good to update about current state. Likely needs to have some tweaks for a good gnome session and will need to revisit ubuntu session for 26.04.
While live view looks good, I think we need to update screenshots of the different DE's look and feel for 26.04

Migrated #1360 to LFS and rebased. Had to create a new branch for this one since I lost write access to @deemoun's repo when we closed that PR (but authorship information is intact within the commits).
This should be squashed & merged when approved.
