Using this extension, syntax highlighting works but ZLS doesn't for WSL:

Language server zls:

initializing server zls, id 0: server shut down

For windows the error is different:

zig executable could not be found

It looks like ZLS doesn’t know where your Zig executable is. You can fix this by explicitly setting the zig_exe_path in your ZLS config file.

Create or edit ~/.config/zls.json (or the equivalent ZLS config path on your system) and add something like:

Make sure to replace "/path/to/zig" with the actual path to your zig executable, then restart Zed so ZLS picks up the new configuration.

@h2cone I am afraid after that zls stopped showing up in my project LSP altogether. With vscode I can specify my custom zls installation & zig install but I don't see any such options with the zed extension.

I've made some progress on this issue on Windows. There are several things that have to be set up for running custom zls under a custom Zig installation.

1. The Zed configuration file must define the path to the custom zls.exe.
2. The zls LSP configuration must define the path to the zls config file.
3. The zls configuration file must define where zig.exe is.
4. The defined paths must not have a space in them.
   Example

Given

• Zig 15.2 installed at "C:\cowboy\zig\x86_64-windows-0.15.2"
• Zls 15.1 installed at "C:\cowboy\zls\x86_64-windows-0.15.1"
• zls configuation file at "C:\cowboy\zls.json".

The Zed settings file contains

I've been able to run a custom Zig version with a custom zls and custom zsl configuration using this setup.
