We don't do anything with windhawk.
Not sure what port you mean.

Will there ever be another release

We are mostly in maintenance mode. Trying to fix issues as time permits.
If there are any new changes, there will be a new release.

As far as I know Open-Shell used to work on Win7+.
Though I haven't tested that personally in long time (nor have any desire to do so).

I can confirm that it still works fine for me in Windows 8.1 Pro.
